Percentage to CGPA, by your university’s rule.

One percentage, every official rule. Find your university’s line — not a one-size-fits-all ÷ 9.5.

Percentage to CGPA by university

Type your percentage. Each line uses one university’s own published rule, reversed — universities that share a rule share a line.

Each line reverses that university’s own published CGPA-to-percentage rule. A result above 10 means the percentage can’t come from that rule. If your university isn’t listed, it hasn’t published a rule this site could read — report your CGPA on its own scale.

Computed from each university’s rule when the site is built. “—” means that percentage is above what the rule allows. Link to a row: add #pct-83 to this page’s address.

Why the answer depends on your university

There is no national rule for turning a percentage into a CGPA. Each university publishes its own CGPA-to-percentage formula, and the only honest way back is to reverse that formula. The 3 rules on this page come from the universities’ own documents — each university’s page quotes its clause and links the PDF.

The common shortcut of dividing by 9.5 comes from CBSE’s old Class 10 grading. It is not any university’s rule, and it gives a different answer from every line above.

If you are filling a form, check whether it asks for a CGPA because your university issued one. If it did, use the CGPA on your memo — not a number worked back from a percentage.

Common questions

How do I convert percentage to CGPA?

Reverse your university’s official rule. Under a × 10 rule (VTU 2022, AKTU, Anna University, Anna University R-2021, KTU), CGPA = % ÷ 10. Under JNTUH’s (CGPA − 0.5) × 10, CGPA = % ÷ 10 + 0.5.

What is 83 percentage in CGPA?

It depends on the university: 8.30 under a straight × 10 rule, 8.80 under JNTUH, JNTUK or Sreenidhi University’s rule, and 9.05 under VTU’s 2021 scheme. The table row for 83% shows every rule.

Can I divide my percentage by 9.5?

Only for CBSE’s old school grading. No engineering university on this site uses 9.5.
