How is this worked out?

AKTU revised this rule. The revised 2018-19 ordinance says CGPA × 10; the original version said (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. If your grade sheet, or a conversion letter from AKTU, states a percentage, that figure wins over both.

Common questions

What is the AKTU CGPA to percentage formula?

Under B.Tech Ordinance 2018-19 (Revised), it is Percentage of marks scored = CGPA × 10. Quoted from clause 15 of the revised B.Tech ordinance (effective from the 2018-19 session), published in AKTU’s 2021-22 syllabus folder. The original version of the same ordinance said (CGPA − 0.75) × 10, with the example 8.66 → 79.1% — that superseded rule is what most calculator sites still use.

Isn’t the AKTU formula (CGPA − 0.75) × 10?

It was. The original 2018-19 ordinance said so, with the example 8.66 → 79.1%. AKTU later revised the same ordinance to CGPA × 10, and the revised version is the one on its site now. For a CGPA of 8.0 that is 80% rather than 72.5% — a difference that matters on a job form. If you hold an official AKTU conversion letter, use the figure on it.

Is AKTU CGPA multiplied by 9.5?

No. The × 9.5 rule belongs to CBSE’s old school grading. AKTU uses a straight × 10.
