How is this worked out?

This page follows R23. JNTUK’s older R20 regulation used 0.75 instead of 0.5 and a different grade table, so confirm your batch’s regulation first.

Official source: JNTUK B.Tech R23 Academic Regulations (official PDF). From the grading section of JNTUK’s B.Tech R23 regulations, which states: “CGPA to Percentage conversion Formula – (CGPA – 0.5) x 10”. The copy used is on jntukucen.ac.in, a constituent college within the university’s own domain family; jntuk.edu.in did not serve the text when checked. Last checked 22 September 2026. Before you put this figure on a form, compare it with your marks memo.

Your SGPA from your results

Paste your JNTUK result table, or type each subject’s grade and credits.

Each line needs a JNTUK grade (S, A, B, C, D, E, F, Ab) followed by its credits, which is how result pages list them. The subjects go into the SGPA calculator below, where you can check and correct every row. Paste several semesters together to get your CGPA.

Official source: JNTUK B.Tech R23 Academic Regulations (official PDF). SGPA = Σ(credits × grade points) ÷ Σ credits. Grade points: the R23 grading table. Last checked 22 September 2026. Enter every semester’s subjects together and the same sum gives your CGPA. The percentage next to it applies the CGPA formula to a single semester, so read it as an estimate.

Marks you need to pass

How much you need in the end exam, given your internal marks.

Official source: JNTUK B.Tech R23 Academic Regulations (official PDF). Evaluation section of R23: theory subjects have 30 internal and 70 end-exam marks; you need at least 35% of the end exam and 40% of the combined total. Last checked 22 September 2026.

The exam minimum never moves: good internals lower what you need only down to that floor. This regulation sets no separate minimum for internals, so low internals alone do not fail the subject here.

Attendance

Whether you can still sit the exam, and how many classes you can miss.
% — JNTUK requires 75%

Official source: JNTUK B.Tech R23 Academic Regulations (official PDF). Attendance rules: clause 17 of R23. JNTUK needs 75% in aggregate and, under R23, at least 40% in every individual subject. The College Academic Committee may condone an aggregate shortage for a fee; below 65% the regulation says it is “in NO CASE” condoned. Last checked 22 September 2026.

Where condonation exists, it is a request your college makes for stated reasons — not something you are owed. If you land in the middle band, raise it with your college straight away.

Will I be promoted to the next year?

Check your credits against the promotion rule.

Official source: JNTUK B.Tech R23 Academic Regulations (official PDF). Promotion rules: clause 18 of R23. Fractions are rounded down. Last checked 22 September 2026.

Keep two things in mind. Only credits you have actually secured count — a backlog adds nothing until it is cleared. And universities have relaxed these limits for particular years before, so a circular for your batch overrides this page.

Common questions

What is the JNTUK CGPA to percentage formula?

Under R23 B.Tech, it is % of marks = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10.

Is JNTUK CGPA multiplied by 9.5?

No. The × 9.5 rule belongs to CBSE’s old school grading, not to JNTUK. Using it gives a different number from the one on your marks memo — for a CGPA of 8.2, × 9.5 gives 77.9%, while the official rule gives 77%.

Which JNTUK regulation does this page cover?

R23 B.Tech only. This page follows R23. JNTUK’s older R20 regulation used 0.75 instead of 0.5 and a different grade table, so confirm your batch’s regulation first.

More questions (3)
Can I calculate SGPA straight from my results page?

Yes. Open “Your SGPA from your results” above, copy the rows of your result table and paste them in. It reads each subject’s grade and credits and fills the SGPA calculator, where you can check every row before trusting the figure.

Where does this formula come from?

From JNTUK B.Tech R23 Academic Regulations (official PDF), checked on 22 September 2026. If your university issues a conversion certificate, the figure on it is the one to use.

Is my data stored?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you type or paste is sent to a server.
