SPPU CGPA to percentage: two official answers.

Pune University has published two different conversions. Here are both, with their documents, so you can see which one your certificate uses.

Both SPPU conversions, side by side

SPPU has published two different official conversions, and neither document says it replaces the other. This page shows both so you can match the one on your conversion certificate — it does not pick one for you.

What the two documents say

1. Circular No. 332/2020 (3 November 2020)

Issued by SPPU’s Academic Section, it approves an equation for converting CGPA to percentage for degree courses in every faculty at affiliated colleges running the Choice Based Credit System from 2019–20. The equation changes with the final grade:

Final grade% of marks
O20 × CGPA − 100
A+12 × CGPA − 25
A10 × CGPA − 7.5
B+5 × CGPA + 26.25
B10 × CGPA − 2.5
C10 × CGPA − 2.50
D6.6 × CGPA + 13.6

2. “Conversion from CGPA to percentage” (exam section)

A one-page sheet on SPPU’s examination site states Percentage = CGPA × 8.9, with class boundaries: 7.42 (66%) and above for First Class with Distinction, 6.75 (60%) for First Class, 6.18 (55%) for Higher Second Class and 5.62 (50%) for Second Class.

What about “(CGPA − 0.75) × 10”?

Many calculator sites give that as SPPU’s official formula. I did not find it in either SPPU document above. If you have an SPPU document that says so, send it to me and this page will be updated.

Common questions

Which SPPU formula should I use?

The one on your conversion certificate, if you have one. Otherwise ask your college or the SPPU exam section which method they apply to your programme — both are official SPPU documents, and they give different numbers.

Why does the 2020 circular need my grade?

Because it uses a different equation for each final grade (O, A+, A, B+, B, C, D). The circular doesn’t list the CGPA range for each grade, so this page asks for the grade printed on your grade card instead of guessing it.

Is my data stored?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser.
