GPA scale converter

Converts between grading scales by proportional scaling — and says clearly that this is arithmetic, not an official equivalence.

Before you use this on an application: no official body converts an Indian CGPA into a US 4.0 GPA. These numbers are straight proportions — handy for a rough idea, not an equivalence. Evaluators such as WES work from your transcript subject by subject, and most forms want the result exactly as your university printed it.

If your university has a formula, use that. Many publish their own CGPA-to-percentage rule, and it is often not a plain × 10 — VTU subtracts 0.75 before multiplying, while JNTUH and JNTUK subtract 0.5. See the CGPA to percentage converters, each with its clause.

Common questions

Is 8.4 CGPA equal to 3.36 GPA?

Proportionally, yes: 8.4 ÷ 10 × 4 = 3.36. But no official body says those are equivalent. For applications, report the figure your university issued and let the evaluator convert it.
